Men's golf team short of first conference victory

Irvine Valley's men's golf team was just two shots away from picking up its first win of the season in Orange Empire Conference action on Wednesday.

The Lasers finished in seventh place with a score of 392 in a conference match hosted by Cypress at the Navy Course.

IVC finished with a score of 393.

Saddleback came in sixth at 391.

Riverside won the event with a score of 365 and Orange Coast was second at 368.

IVC was led by sophomore Zach Chavous, who finished with a score of 1 over par 73. He had four birdies, nine pars and five bogeys.

Freshman Mike Lorrimer ended up at 6 over par 78 with one birdie, 11 pars, five bogeys and one double bogey.

Sophomore Jed Meng came in at 79 with two birdies, 10 pars, four bogeys, one double bogey and one triple bogey.

Freshman Nate Noblitt also scored 79 with two birdies, eight pars, seven bogeys and one double bogey for Irvine Valley.

IVC's final score of the day came from freshman Joshua Whitesides, who scored 84.

Irvine Valley plays again next Wednesday in a match at El Prado in Chino.
