Irvine Valley's Jordan Montrose signs with Holy Cross College

Irvine Valley freshman men's basketball player Jordan Montrose has signed with NAIA Holy Cross College in Indiana, according to Laser head coach Jerry Hernandez.

"It is a great spot for him," Hernandez said. "We are all proud of the way that Jordan grew as a player in our program this year."

Montrose, a 6-6 forward from Cathedral High in Los Angeles, played several roles for the Lasers in 2022-23.

He started the year as a reserve, but was starting by the end of the season.

Montrose played in 29 games and ended up starting 18 contests.

He averaged 5.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. Montrose shot 49.5 percent from the field and 74.5 percent from the free throw line.

He had nine games with at least seven points with a season-best 10 points in an Orange Empire Conference game at Fullerton on Jan. 11.

And Montrose recorded five rebounds or more in seven contests for the Lasers this past season.

He is headed to Holy Cross, which is in South Bend, Ind.

The Saints compete in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The squad had a record of 14-15 overall last season and went 9-11 in conference action.
