Irvine Valley sophomore men's basketball player Geoff Salas has signed with Southwestern College in Kansas.

Southwestern in a NAIA school in Winfield, Kan.

Salas, a 6-4 wing player, led Irvine Valley during the 2018-19 season, averaging 12.9 points per game. He shot 48.1 percent from the floor and 46.2 percent from three-point range in playing all 28 contests.

Salas scored in double figures in 18 of 28 games for the Lasers this past season. He had a career-high 32 points in Irvine Valley's 85-81 loss to Miramar on Dec. 15.

He had a stretch of 11-straight games where he put up 208 points (18.9 points per game average).

One of his best performances of the season came in Orange Empire Conference play against rival Saddleback as IVC knocked off the Guachos, 51-47.

He scored Irvine Valley's final 16 points of the contest and finished with a game-high 21 points.

Salas went 5 of 11 from the field, including 4 of 8 from three-point range. He also connected on 7 of 10 free throws.

Salas is headed to a Southwestern team that finished with a record of 28-5 overall last season and went 20-4 in conference action. The 28 wins tied a school record and was the fifth straight 20-win season for the program.

Southwestern head coach Matt O'Brien was named the 2018-19 Kansas Basketball Coaches Association (KBCA) Four-Year College Coach of the Year.

The squad has made the NAIA Tournament three times in the last four years.
