Former Irvine Valley basketball standout signs with BBL team

Former Irvine Valley standout men's basketball player Chris Taylor has signed with the British Basketball League's Bristol Flyers.

The 6-5 Taylor played for Irvine Valley from 2010-12.

He helped Irvine Valley to a record of 22-7 during the 2011-12 season and a trip to the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs. The team was 9-3 in the Orange Empire Conference and took second place.

Taylor averaged 6.8 points and 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per a game during the 2011-12 season.

Taylor went on to play at NCAA Division II Chadron State in Nebraska after IVC.

Taylor played the last two years with the NBL Division One Derby Trailblazers where he averaged 12.5 points per game and led the league in steals with 2.4 per game.

The 26-year-old becomes the 11th player to commit to Bristol Flyers ahead of the 2017-18 season.

"I'm really looking forward to playing for the Flyers, and my first experience of the BBL," Taylor told bristolflyers.co.uk. "It's going to be a big learning process for me - I played at a high level last year, but the BBL is a further step forward.

"My experience with Derby really helped me become a better player. I played extended minutes in a very well coached program."
