Irvine Valley sophomore men's basketball player Anthony Hernandez has signed with Division 2 Dominican University in San Rafael.

Hernandez, a 6-0 guard, averaged 6.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game for the Lasers this past season. He played and started in 26 games for IVC during the 2016-17 campaign.

He helped Irvine Valley finish with a record of 14-14 overall and reach the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs.

Hernandez scored in double figures in four games and had a season-high 13 points in IVC's 73-59 win over Canyons in the Irvine Valley Classic last November. Hernandez was named all-tournament as the Lasers finished third in the event.

He had a season-best eight assists in Irvine Valley's 80-73 Orange Empire Conference win over Santa Ana in January. Hernandez ranked second on the team in assists on the year.

Hernandez is headed to a Dominican team that finished with a record of 10-16 overall last year and was 9-11 in the PacWest Conference.
