Irvine Valley's men's basketball team lost another tough Orange Empire Conference game on Wednesday night.

Andy Cleaves free throw with 4.0 seconds left lifted Riverside to a 69-68 home win over IVC at Wheelock Gymnasium.

Cleaves made the first of a two-shot situation and his second attempt missed and was rebounded by Irvine Valley. A subsequent half-court shot at the buzzer missed.

Cleaves finished with 10 points.

For Irvine Valley (14-13 overall, 2-9 OEC), freshman guard Chris Lott had a game-high 22 points.

Freshman forward Zach Harvey came off the bench and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

Irvine Valley led, 68-66, with 19 seconds left after a tip in by Harvey.

But then Antonio Mayfield made a layup with eight seconds to go.

IVC turned the ball over as it came down the floor. Cleaves came up with the steal and then was fouled before he made his first free throw.

Both teams shot just 39.6 percent for the game.

Riverside (12-16, 4-8) was paced by Kevin Pritchett, who had a team-high 14 points. Sage Woodruff added 13 points and eight rebounds.

Irvine Valley finishes up the regular season with a game at Santa Ana on Friday at 7 p.m.
