The 19th Annual Irvine Valley College Classic men's basketball tournament tips off on Thursday.
The eight-team tournament will feature four games on Thursday, four more on Friday and then three on Saturday.
The championship game will be on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Two teams are undefeated coming into the event.
Santa Monica has a record of 3-0. It won both of its games in the College of the Canyons Tournament, including beating Canyons, 79-67.
Madison Higgins had 24 points and Keilan Horton added 21 points for the Corsairs in the game.
Santa Monica then beat Cerritos last week, 78-74. Horton had 16 points in that win.
Host Irvine Valley carries a record of 2-0 into the tournament. The team started with a 58-48 win over Southwestern two weeks ago and then beat Cuyamca, 77-57, on the road, last week.
Sophomore forward Declan Daly finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds and freshman wing player Chris Salas had 16 points, going 4 for 4 on three-pointers for the Lasers in the win.
Irvine Valley pulled away in the second half, scoring 49 points in the final 20 minutes, for the victory.
Freshman guard Ronnie Harris added 11 points and sophomore guard Dathon Spencer had 10 points and five assists for the Lasers.
Two teams that were ranked very high to start the season are also in the tournament.
Cerritos was ranked second in Southern California and Ventura was ninth in Southern California in the preseason rankings.
Cerritos, which is off to an 0-2, has gotten solid play so far from the likes of Victor Jones, Austin Pope and Josh Bell.
Two starters return from Ventura's team that went 24-7 a season ago.
They are first team all-conference selection Ivan Dooley and second team all-conference pick Anthony Morman.
Dooley was an all-tournament player at the Irvine Valley Classic a year ago.
Freshmen that are expected to contribute include Vondel Faniel, Jalen Young and Eric Davis.
Other teams in the tournament include Canyons, Cuyamaca, Imperial Valley and Long Beach City.
Ventura won the championship game last season, defeating Imperial Valley in the final, 81-72.
Irvine Valley captured the consolation title with a 67-58 win over Canyons and Long Beach City defeated Cuyamaca in overtime in the third-place game, 69-66.
The first day's schedule on Thursday is Cerritos vs. Canyons at 2 p.m., Santa Monica vs. Cuyamaca at 4 p.m., Imperial Valley vs. Irvine Valley at 6 p.m. and Long Beach City vs. Ventura at 8 p.m.
Games are at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday and at 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
