Former IVC player Kalob Hatcher named all-conference at Montana State Billings

Congratulations on a great two-year run for former Irvine Valley men's basketball player Kalob Hatcher at Montana State University Billings.

Hatcher was recently named second-team all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Hatcher led MSUB averaging a GNAC best 8.0 assists per game.

That number ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II nationally.

He also averaged 11.9 points per game and led MSUB in minutes played averaging 38.8 per game.

He eclipsed the double digit assist total in a game eight times this season, dishing out a career high 14 against Simon Fraser University on Feb. 15.

Hatcher's career high in points came against Saint Martin's University on Feb. 1 when he scored 29 points.

"Well-deserved honor for Kalob," Montana State University-Billings Coach Jamie Stevens said. "I would argue that he deserved to be first team, but the guys on the first team are also very well deserved. I think it shows you just how good are league is and how good the players in this league are.

"Kalob has been our MVP all year. He will be missed when his career is over and he will always be a special player in MSUB history."

Montana State University Billings finished the year with a record of 12-15 overall.

Hatcher ended the season with a 12-point, eight-assist, four-rebound effort in his team's loss to Alaska Fairbanks in the GNAC Tournament last week.

Hatcher was an all-Orange Empire Conference player and IVC's team MVP after his sophomore season in 2011-12.

He ranks second all-time in career assists at Irvine Valley with 237.
