Alumni Report: Haggerty stands out for Texas Permian Basin

Former Irvine Valley standout baseball player made an impression in his first season with NCAA Division II University of Texas Permian Basin.

The sophomore left fielder played in 37 games and started 32 contests for a Falcon team that finished with a record of 23-27 overall and 21-27 in the Lone Star Conference.

Haggerty batted .339 on the season with a .874 OPS. He scored 27 runs with six doubles, two triples and 29 RBI. He also stole 11 bases in 13 attempts and had a .443 on base percentage.

He had 10 multi-hit games, including going 4 for 4 against West Texas A&M in March.

Texas Permian Basin ended the sesaon with a four-game sweep of Oklahoma Christian. The Falcons out-scored Oklahoma Christian, 75-25, in the series.

During the 2022 season with IVC, Haggerty ranked 14th in a loaded Orange Empire Conference in batting average at .359.

He also ranked sixth in the conference in stolen bases with 13.

Haggerty was second on the IVC squad with a batting average at .359, was second in on base percentage at .456 and tied for the team lead in slugging percentage at .471. 

The former Mission Viejo star registered 17 multi-hit games for the Lasers, including three games with four hits and four games with three hits.

Irvine Valley finished with a record of 17-23 overall.

In a shortened 2021 OEC season, Haggerty batted .250 with seven RBI.
