Alumni Report: Schineller has monster year at Georgetown

Former Irvine Valley baseball player Hank Schineller had a special 2023 season for NAIA Georgetown College in Kentucky.

Schineller set a Tiger program record with 17 home runs in a season. And he also batted over .400 (.402 to be exact).

Schineller was named all-Mid South Conference at the end of the year and was also named an NAIA national player of the week in late February.

In that week in February, Schineller went 9 of 15 at the plate with eight runs, a triple, six home runs and 14 RBI in three gam3s vs. Freed-Hardeman of Tenessee. 

He helped Georgetown end the year with a record of 29-22 overall. 

And on the season, the first baseman batted .402 (76 of 189) with 17 home runs, 14 doubles, one triple, 58 RBI and 35 runs. Schineller had a .452 on base percentage and a .757 slugging percentage.

In conference play, Schineller was even better ending with 11 home runs and having a .890 slugging percentage.

Schineller, a junior, has 25 home runs through two seasons with Georgetown.

In the 2022 season at Georgetown, Schineller, played in 47 games and batted .280 with eight home runs, which tied for the team high. 

He had an OPS of .889, which was third on the squad.

Schineller led Georgetown with 40 RBI. He also added 10 doubles and three triples.

The former Crean Lutheran High standout was at Irvine Valley during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Both seasons were shortened due to COVID-19.
