
Irvine Valley's baseball team scored two runs in the top of the 10th inning and beat Golden West, 6-4, on the road Tuesday in the first game of a three-game, Orange Empire Conference set.
The Lasers scored their two runs to pull off the win in the 10th on a Golden West error and then a sacrifice RBI bunt by sophomore catcher Connor Tallakson.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 11-27 overall and 1-18 in conference.
The star of the day for IVC was freshman center fielder Shane Stafford.
He went 4 for 5 at the plate and scored a run. Stafford improved his batting average to a team-best .321 on the year.
Sophomore second baseman Nolan Cusey also hit a home run for the Lasers and went 1 for 3 with two runs scored, two walks and one RBI.
Irvine Valley sophomore right-hander Sammy Murphy picked up the victory in relief.
He pitched the final 1.1 innings and didn't allow a run.
IVC hosts Golden West on Thursday at 2 p.m. before finishing the regular season on Saturday at Golden West at noon.
