Baseball player Joey Lapolla signs with Georgetown College

Irvine Valley sophomore baseball player Joey Lapolla has signed with Georgetown College in Kentucky.

Lapolla was the leadoff hitter and a leader on and off the field for the Lasers.

He joins former IVC players Eric Burckle and Hank Schineller with the Tigers next season.

Lapolla played in 39 of the Lasers' 40 games this past season and batted .254 with 22 runs, four doubles, two triples and one home run. He finished with 19 RBI and also had six stolen bases.

Lapolla, out of Tesoro High, started his college career at IVC in 2019 and batted .265 with six doubles and 13 RBI in 37 games.

He played a shortened COVID 2020 season, playing 21 games with a .279 batting average, five doubles and nine RBI.

The center fielder had a standout Orange Empire Conference 2021 season, batting .327 with a .456 on base percentage and a .545 slugging percentage for the Lasers as they finished with a record of 12-14-2 overall.

Lapolla had one double, one triple, three home runs and nine RBI.

He also finished with 16 stolen bases in his career at IVC.

Lapolla is headed to a Georgetown team that had a record of 31-20 overall last year.
