Baseball team blanks Mt. San Jacinto at home

Irvine Valley's baseball team got some more fine pitching performances in a 1-0 win over Mt. San Jacinto on Tuesday afternoon at home.

It was IVC's first home victory of the season and improved their record to 4-3 overall.

Freshman pitchers Chad Burchit and Keenan Cisneros combined for the shutout.

Burchit started and went six solid and scoreless innings for the win. He gave up four hits and four walks and struck out to batters. Burchit leveled his record at 1-1.

Cisneros entered in relief and picked up a save after throwing the final three innings. He allowed two hits and one walk and had two strikeouts.

Sophomore catcher Ryan Gaynor had the game-winning hit for the Lasers in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Sophomore left fielder Wyatt McGinnis led off the sixth and doubled off the left field wall.

Gaynor then lined the first pitch he saw up the middle for the RBI single.

That was all that Burchit and Cisneros needed. IVC's defense was also good on the day.

Irvine Valley finished with seven hits at the plate.

Sophomore right fielder Zack Stack and sophomore first baseman Grant Rockefeller were each 2 for 4. Freshman center fielder Ben McConnell and Gaynor each went 1 for 3 with a walk.

Irvine Valley plays at Mt. San Jacinto on Thursday at 2 p.m.
