Baseball player Alec Ceniceros to compete for CSUSB Coyotes

Alec Ceniceros, a sophomore baseball player for Irvine Valley this past spring, is headed to Cal State San Bernardino.

Ceniceros was a first baseman, designated hitter and valuable pinch hitter for IVC in 2017.

He played in 37 games and had 63 at bats.

He ended up with three doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI on the year.

Ceniceros tied for second on the team with two home runs and was seventh with 10 RBI.

He also walked 10 times on the year and had a .365 slugging percentage, which was fourth on the team.

Ceniceros hit a solo home run in a 11-9 loss to Long Beach City early in the year and then hit another solo homer in Irvine Valley's 8-7 victory at West LA on Feb. 15.

He drove in two runs in three different games during the season.

Ceniceros helped Irvine Valley finish with a record of 19-24 overall. The Lasers made the Southern California Regioinal Playoffs and won a playoff game this past season.

As a freshman in 2016, the left-handed hitting Ceniceros ended with 10 RBI in 42 at bats.

He played at El Modena High before coming to Irvine Valley.
