Baseball players Joy, Stevens, Odekirk named all-conference

Three Irvine Valley baseball players were named to all-Orange Empire Conference teams this week.

Sophomore right fielder and catcher Cole Joy was named first team and sophomore shortstop Tyler Odekirk and sophomore right-handed pitcher John Stevens were named second team.

Joy hit a team-best .384 in conference play with 28 hits, two home runs and 11 RBI. He also had a .444 on base percentage and .507 slugging percentage in conference.

Overall, Joy is batting .375 with 51 hits, three home runs and 20 RBI. He has a .434 on base percentage with a .485 slugging percentage.

Odekirk recently signed with NCAA Division I University of San Diego.

Odekirk batted .262 in conference with 22 hits, 13 RBI and three stolen bases.

Overall, he is hitting .352 with a team-best 56 hits and 28 RBI. He also has a team high 14 stolen bases. Odekirk has a .413 on base percentage and a .440 slugging percentage.

Stevens had a 2-3 record in conference with two complete games and two saves. He pitched 54.1 innings with 27 strikeouts and a 2.98 ERA.

Overall, Stevens has a record of 5-5 overall with four saves. He has pitched 92.0 innings with 60 strikeouts. He has a 3.03 ERA.

Irvine Valley plays again this Friday in the Southern California Playoff Regionals against No. 2 Grossmont. First pitch is 2 p.m. at Grossmont on Friday.
