All-OEC outfielder Clint Jack commits to Southwest Baptist

Irvine Valley sophomore all-Orange Empire Conference outfielder Clint Jack has committed to Southwest Baptist University in Missouri.

He will play for the NCAA Division 2 Bearcats next spring.

Jack was selected second team all-conference this past year after finishing second on the Lasers in batting average.

The leftfielder batted .345 with 51 hits, 22 runs, six doubles and 12 RBI. He also struck out just four times in 148 at bats.

Jack also ranked tied for first in hits and third in runs. He was named the co-offensive player of the year for Irvine Valley.

He had 14 multi-hit games this season, including two games with five hits and also had an on base percentage of .413.

Jack went 5 for 6 with two doubles and three RBI in Irvine Valley's 17-2 win over West LA on March 3 and then had a 5 for 6 game with a double, three runs scored and one RBI in Irvine Valley's 12-6 win over Golden West on April 2.

Jack was a two-year starter in the outfield for Irvine Valley.

He helped Irvine Valley to a record of 17-19 overall and a 8-13 record in conference this past season.

Jack was also part of a special Irvine Valley team in 2015. Irvine Valley went 23-18 overall and made a run to the CCCAA Super Regionals.

Irvine Valley beat LA Mission in a play-in game for the playoffs and then upset Oxnard in two-straight games before losing to Palomar.

Jack batted .270 with 18 runs, 38 hits and 12 RBI as a freshman.

The Huntington Beach High product finished his IVC two-year career batting .308 with 40 runs, 89 hits, 14 doubles, 24 RBI and just 16 strikeouts in 289 at bats.
