Irvine Valley sophomore pitcher Cole Millerd has signed with Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego.
Millerd, a 6-2, right-hander out of La Quinta High, was solid on the mound for the Lasers this past season.
He threw 67.2 innings and ended with a 3.59 ERA.
Millerd made 16 appearances and had eight starts for the Lasers.
He ended with a record of 2-4 with one save.
Millerd earned the win in IVC's 15-1 victory at LA Harbor on Mar. 22 after pitching eight innings and allowing just one run on nine hits.
He had his best outing of the year in Irvine Valley's 4-3 win over Cypress at home on Apr. 12. He went nine innings and gave up three runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts.
Millerd didn't get a decision as Irvine Valley won in 12 innings.
He helped Irvine Valley to a 17-19 record overall this past season.
Millerd made 12 appearances and pitched 28.0 innings for Irvine Valley during the 2015 season.
He was part of one of IVC's best-ever seasons in 2015. The Lasers won their final six games to end the regular season and made the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
IVC, seeded 17th, won a single elimination playoff play-in game at LA Mission, 16-6. The team trailed, 6-0, but scored the final 16 runs of the game.
Irvine Valley then turned around and swept a pair of games at No. 2-seeded Oxnard to move to the Super Regionals.
The team finished with a record of 23-18 overall.
Millerd is headed to a Point Loma team that made the move to NCAA Division 2 last year.
The Sea Lions finished the year with a record of 32-16 and were fourth in the PacWest Conference with a record of 21-13. They also ended the year on an eight-game winning streak.
