Baseball player Dillon Millar picked second team all-OEC

Irvine Valley sophomore center fielder Dillon Millar was one of three Laser players named to all-Orange Empire Conference baseball teams last week.

He batted .331 with 49 hits, 28 runs, nine doubles, one triple, one home run and 20 RBI. He also had nine stolen bases.

Millar led the team in runs scored and stolen bases and was second in hits and doubles and tied for second in RBI.

He also paced the team in walks with 17.

Millar had 16 multi-hit games this season, including a four-hit performance in the team's 15-1 win at LA Harbor in March.

Millar helped Irvine Valley to a record of 17-19 overall and a 8-13 record in conference this season.

He has been a two-year starter in center field for the Lasers.

He played in 38 games in 2015 and batted .279 with 19 runs, 17 RBI and seven stolen bases. He had eight multi-hit games a year ago, including a 5 for 5 effort in a 7-2 Irvine Valley win at Pasadena City.

Millar helped IVC to one of its best-ever seasons in 2015. The Lasers won their final six games to end the regular season and made the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

IVC, seeded 17th, won a single elimination playoff play-in game at LA Mission, 16-6. The team trailed, 6-0, but scored the final 16 runs of the game.

Irvine Valley then turned around and swept a pair of games at No. 2-seeded Oxnard to move to the Super Regionals.

The team finished with a record of 23-18 overall.

Millar has signed with Concordia University. The Eagles made the move last season from NAIA to a NCAA Division 2 program.

Millar joined fellow Laser sophomore outfielder Clint Jack on the second team for all-conference. Sophomore shortstop Jordan Gillerman was named first team all-conference.
