Baseball player Clint Jack named second team all-conference

Irvine Valley sophomore left fielder Clint Jack was one of three Laser players named to all-Orange Empire Conference baseball teams this week.

Jack had a standout 2016 season, batting .345 with 51 hits, 22 runs, six doubles and 12 RBI.

He also struck out just four times in 148 at bats.

Jack ranked second on the team in batting average, tied for first in hits and third in runs.

He had 14 multi-hit games this season, including two games with five hits. He went 5 for 6 with two doubles and three RBI in Irvine Valley's 17-2 win over West LA on March 3 and then had a 5 for 6 game with a double, three runs scored and one RBI in Irvine Valley's 12-6 win over Golden West on April 2.

He helped Irvine Valley to a record of 17-19 overall and a 8-13 record in conference this season.

In his freshman season in 2015 for IVC, Jack batted .270 with 18 runs, eight doubles, one triple and 12 RBI.

Jack helped lead IVC to one of its best-ever seasons in 2015. The Lasers won their final six games to end the regular season and made the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

IVC, seeded 17th, won a single elimination playoff play-in game at LA Mission, 16-6. The team trailed, 6-0, but scored the final 16 runs of the game.

Irvine Valley then turned around and swept a pair of games at No. 2-seeded Oxnard to move to the Super Regionals.

The team finished with a record of 23-18 overall.

Profiles on second team all-conference player Dillon Millar and first team all-conference player Jordan Gillerman will be posted next week.
