Baseball player Dillon Millar signs with Concordia

Irvine Valley sophomore baseball player Dillon Millar has signed with Concordia University.

The Eagles made the move last season from NAIA to a NCAA Division 2 program.

Millar has been a two-year starter in center field for the Lasers.

He played in 38 games in 2015 and batted .279 with 19 runs, 17 RBI and seven stolen bases. He had eight multi-hit games a year ago, including a 5 for 5 effort in a 7-2 Irvine Valley win at Pasadena City.

Millar helped IVC to one of its best-ever seasons in 2015. The Lasers won their final six games to end the regular season and made the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

IVC, seeded 17th, won a single elimination playoff play-in game at LA Mission, 16-6. The team trailed, 6-0, but scored the final 16 runs of the game.

Irvine Valley then turned around and swept a pair of games at No. 2-seeded Oxnard to move to the Super Regionals.

The team finished with a record of 23-18 overall.

Heading into this week in the 2016 season, Millar was batting .350, which is second best on the squad.

He was 48 for 137 at the plate with nine doubles, one triple, one home run and 20 RBI. His RBI total was tied for second on the team. Millar also led the team in walks with 16 and had a team-high nine stolen bases.

Millar came to Irvine Valley from Huntington Beach High where he helped the Oilers to a 22-5 record and a league title his senior year in 2014.

He's headed to a Concordia program that plays in the PacWest Conference. The Eagles had a 20-26 record heading into this week's action.
