Former baseball standout Ryan Wagner signs with RedHawks

Former Irvine Valley standout catcher Ryan Wagner has signed a contract to continue his baseball career with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

Wagner recently inked the professional contract and will play in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

Wagner played the last two years at Barcone College in Oklahoma. He helped the Warriors claim their first ever RRAC Baseball Tournament title with a 7-4 victory over No. 10 and host school LSU-Shreveport last May.

Wagner was named first team all-Red River Athletic Conference after batting .305 with three home runs and 31 RBI.

He was previously a starting catcher at Irvine Valley during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

The former Trabuco Hills High product, batted .259 with two home runs, 12 RBI and a co-team high of seven stolen bases as a freshman in 2012. Wagner drove in 20 runs as a sophomore in 2013.

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will begin the 2016 regular season on Thursday, May 19 in Laredo, Texas to kick off a season-opening swing through Texas before returning to Fargo for the Home Opener at Newman Outdoor Field on Friday, May 27 against the Wichita Wingnuts.
