Irvine Valley's baseball team lost its second game in extra innings in Orange Empire Conference play.
The Lasers fell to Saddleback, 7-4, in 10 innings on Tuesday at Saddleback.
Saddleback's Alex King hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Irvine Valley, which lost to Fullerton in 12 innings earlier in conference, was out-hit, 13-4, by Saddleback, but made the most out of opportunities throughout the day to stay in the game.
The Lasers got outstanding defensive efforts, chasing down fly balls, from freshman center fielder Dillon Millar, freshman left fielder Clint Jack and sophomore right fielder Brett Hamilton.
Irvine Valley led, 3-1, after the top of the third inning.
IVC got off to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
The Lasers loaded the bases with one out thanks to two hit batters and a walk.
Freshman designated hitter Robbie Espinosa singled to right field to score Jack. And then freshman catcher Branden Williams hit a sacrifice fly to score Millar.
Saddleback answered with a run in the bottom of the first inning.
In the top of the third, Williams hit another sacrifice fly. It scored Hamilton, who had an infield single to lead off the inning.
Saddleback tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the third inning when Casey Worden hit a two-run home run to left field off of IVC freshman relief pitcher Marco Bedolla.
The game stayed tied until the top of the eighth when Hamilton crushed a solo home run to left field to make it 4-3.
Saddleback tied the game again in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single by King.
And then King, who went 2 for 5 with four RBI on the day, ended the game in the 10th.
Espinosa went 2 for 4 with one RBI and Hamilton was 2 for 4 with the home run, two runs scored and one RBI.
Freshman Cole Millerd started on the mound and went 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks.
Bedolla pitched five innings and gave up two runs on four hits and one walk.
IVC freshman Hunter Robinson was charged with the loss. He pitched two innings and gave up three runs on five hits.
Irvine Valley's record slipped to 11-8 overall and 3-3 in conference. The Lasers are in a four-way tie for third place in the standings with Saddleback, Golden West and Orange Coast.
Saddleback improved its record to 13-5 overall.
Irvine Valley is back at it on Thursday with another road game. IVC plays at Santa Ana at 2 p.m.
