Baseball team stays perfect with 4-1 win over LA Valley

Irvine Valley's baseball team capped off an impressive first week of the 2015 season with a 4-1 win over Los Angeles Valley on Saturday afternoon at home.

The win was IVC's third straight to open the year. Irvine Valley defeated Imperial Valley, 12-0, on Tuesday and then LA Valley, 9-2, on Friday at home.

Irvine Valley once again got solid pitching and timely hitting in the victory on Saturday.

Freshman left-hander Ryan Adaby started his first game as a Laser and picked up his first win.

He went six innings and didn't allow a run, giving up two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Freshman Marco Bedolla pitched two innings of relief, giving up one run on two hits and then Cole Millerd closed out the game with a scoreless ninth. He allowed one hit and had one strikeout.

Millerd earned a save for his effort.

The Lasers took the lead in the second inning and then never looked back.

IVC put up two runs. Freshman first baseman Lucas Tancas reached on an error and was later driven in on a RBI triple to left field by freshman shortstop Jordan Gillerman.

Sophomore second baseman Zach Vittetow then squeezed in Gillerman for IVC's second run.

The Lasers added two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Sophomore right fielder Brett Hamilton hit a two-out, two-run double to right center.

Vittetow, who singled to lead off the inning, and freshman left fielder Clint Jack, who also singled, scored on Hamilton's hit.

On the day, Hamilton went 3 for 4 with two RBI. He is hitting .429 with six RBI through the first three games.

Gillerman was 2 for 4 with one RBI. And Vittetow went 1 for 1 with a walk and one RBI.

Irvine Valley plays again on Tuesday, playing host to Compton at 2 p.m.
