Baseball player Harrison Collacott off to Whittier College

Irvine Valley relief pitcher Harrison Collacott will continue his baseball career at Whittier College, Laser coach Kent Madole announced earlier this week.

The recently graduated Collacott pitched mostly in relief for Irvine Valley the last two seasons.

He threw 12 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts during the 2014 season. Collacott made 10 appearances with one start and had a 6.39 ERA. He had no decisions.

During his freshman season in 2013 for the Lasers, Collacott pitched in 11 games - all in relief - and had a record of 0-1 with one save and a 6.52 ERA.

Collacott pitched in 19 1/3 innings and had 13 strikeouts.

The former Villa Park High standout is headed to a Whittier program that had one of its best ever seasons in 2014.

The Poets, who compete in Division 3, finished with an overall record of 22-20 and were 17-11 in the SCIAC.

Whittier made its first appearance in the SCIAC Post Season Tournament and at one point during the season had an 11-game winning streak.

It was the longest winning streak in the program's history within the modern era.
