Irvine Valley's baseball team dropped its second straight Orange Empire Conference game, falling to Golden West, 1-0, Thursday afternoon at Golden West.
The Lasers had chances, but couldn't cash in any runs.
IVC saw its record slip to 6-10 overall and 2-2 in conference.
Six of the eight teams in conference now have records of 2-2. Riverside is 3-1 and Cypress is 1-3.
Golden West scored the lone run of the game in the bottom of the first inning.
The Rustlers got a leadoff single by Frank Califano, who later scored on a single by Andrew Yazdanbakhsh.
Both squad's pitchers were impressive the rest of the way.
Irvine Valley sophomore Chris Lumanlan went seven complete innings, giving up just one run on five hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Sophomore A.J. Wolfson pitched the final inning. He gave up just one hit.
Rustlers' starting pitcher Isaiah Terrazas went the distance giving up only five hits and striking out five en route to a complete game shutout.
Irvine Valley put runners in scoring position in both the fifth and eighth innings.
In the fifth inning, freshman catcher Pedro Gonzalez walked with one out and with two outs freshman second baseman J'Anthony Sanchez was hit by a pitch and then freshman center fielder Brett Hamilton walked to load the bases. But Terrazas got IVC freshman third baseman Adam Vargas to fly out to center to end the inning.
In the eighth inning, Varvas walked with one out and then sophomore left fielder Matt Harris singled. Harris advanced on the throw in from the outfield to put runners on second and third.
But Terrazas retired the next two batters.
Irvine Valley ended up leaving nine runners on base.
Varvas, Harris, sophomore shortstop Dallas Porter, freshman right fielder Austin Charrette and sophomore pinch-hitter Jesus Meza each had a hit for IVC in the game.
Irvine Valley plays again on Saturday, hosting Santa Ana at noon in a conference game.
Santa Ana has a record of 11-6 overall and 2-2 in conference. The Dons lost to Saddleback, 6-2, on Thursday at home. Saddleback scored all six of its runs in the eighth and ninth innings.
