
The Irvine Valley women's beach volleyball team had two pairs qualify to the 3C2A Championships at West Valley in Saratoga this Friday and Saturday after making it through two tough days at the So. Cal. Regionals at El Camino last weekend.
The Lasers move on the sophomore duo of Tessa Marocco and Kenzie Dews and the pair of sophomore Natalia Brandlin and freshman Audrey Fowler.
Marocco and Dews made the quarterfinals in the main draw and then won the consoation fifth through ninth draw, including beating the top-seeded team in So. Cal., Bridget Dorr and Ryan D'Angelo from El Camino, 28-26, 24-26, 15-6, to claim the fifth seed out of the south into the state event on Friday.
Brandlin and Fowler, who won the Orange Empire Conference Pairs Championship, finished 15th overall in the event and also moved on to the state tournament in Saratoga.
Marocco, Dews, Brandlin and Fowler helped Irvine Valley to a record of 15-4 overall and 14-0 in conference and a trip into the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs this past season.
