Beach volleyball team faces El Camino/Long Beach in regional

Irvine Valley's women's beach volleyball team earned the No. 12 seed and will play on Tuesday at El Camino in the 3C2A So. Cal. Regionals.

The Lasers take on No. 4 El Camino at 10 a.m. and then No. 5 Long Beach City at 11 a.m.

Irvine Valley did not face either El Camino or Long Beach City during the regular season.

IVC won the Orange Empire Conference with a record of 14-0. The Lasers had a mark of 15-6 overall. 

San Diego Mesa earned the No. 1 seed in the region and will host No. 8 Santa Barbara and No. 9 Grossmont on Tuesday.

Ventura is the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 San Diego Miramar and No. 10 Rio Hondo.

No. 3 MiraCosta rounds out the top four seeds and will host No. 6 Mt. San Antonio and No. 11 Santa Monica.

In addition to the team regionals, the Lasers will be headed back to El Camino on Friday for the 3C2A Pairs Regionals. The event starts on Friday and wraps up on Saturday.

It is the third straight year that El Camino willl be hosting the pairs.

Irvine Valley's pairs that qualified for the regionals were the duo of sophomore Natalia Brandlin and freshman Audrey Fowler, the team of sophomores Tessa Marocco and Kenzie Dews and the duo of sophomore Mia Bertolone and freshman Avery Bennett.

The winner of Tuesday's competition and qualifiers from the weekend's pairs contest will all advance to the 3C2A State Championships from May 9-11 in No. Cal. at West Valley.
