Beach volleyball team hangs with HIU and Concordia squads

Irvine Valley's women's beach volleyball team started what will be one of its busiest weeks of the season Tuesday at home.

The Lasers have multiple matches on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday this week.

IVC took on its sixth and seventh four-year programs of the year on Tuesday.

Irvine Valley played tough throughout, but lost to Hope International, 4-1, and Concordia, 5-0, in contests at the Laser Beach Courts complex.

IVC's pair of freshmen Emily Hon and Mia Bertolone picked up a 21-13, 15-21, 15-9 win on the fifth court against Hope International.

Irvine Valley's top pair of sophomore Barett Nolan and Chloe Swanson went three sets, but fell, 19-17, in the third.

And on the second court, IVC's pair of sophomore Gabi Brown and freshman Sydney Dews were close before losing, 22-20, 21-17.

Against Concordia, Nolan and Swanson had the best showing, but fell in a close, three-set contest.

Irvine Valley's record went to 4-10 overall.

Irvine Valley plays again on Wednesday, taking on Fullerton at 11 a.m. and Saddleback at noon in Orange Empire Conference matches.

The matches are at IVC, but Saddleback is serving as host.
