Beach volleyball team takes on two more four-year colleges

Irvine Valley's women's beach volleyball team continued its recent string of taking on four-year programs with matches against Concordia and The Master's University on Wednesday at home.

The Lasers battled, but lost to Concordia, 5-0, and The Master's 4-1.

Irvine Valley's record went to 3-7 overall. Four of those defeats have come to four-year colleges.

The Lasers lost all five matches in straight sets against Concordia.

But three Irvine Valley pairs went to three sets against The Master's.

And IVC's No. 3 pair of sophomore Angie Griego and freshman Tessa Marocco earned a 21-19, 19-21, 15-11 victory.

The Laser second pair of sophomores Gabi Brown and Chloe Swanson fell, 15-10 in the third set and the No. 4 pair of freshmen Emily Hon and Mia Bertolone lost, 15-12, in the third.

Irvine Valley will be back in action on Thursday, hosting Golden West in an Orange Empire Conference match at 12 p.m. and then NCAA Division II Colorado Mesa at 2 p.m.
