Women's beach volleyball team ranked No. 5 in the state

Irvine Valley's women's beach volleyball team was ranked No. 5 in the state in the latest America Volleyball Coaches Association California Community College Athletic Association Poll.

The Lasers defeated Cypress, 4-1, and lost to four-year NCAA Division I University of Arizona, 5-0, on Wednesday and has a record of 4-2 overall.

IVC has scored wins over community college teams in Cypress, Orange Coast and Gavilan so far and also defeated Cerritos, which is playing as a club program this year.

Irvine Valley won the Orange Empire Conference a year ago, made the state tournament at West Valley College and had its top team of sophomores Megan Ramseyer and Taira Ka'awaloa capture the state pairs championship.

Irvine Valley plays again next Thursday Long Beach State, which is ranked No. 8 in the nation in NCAA Division I and then hosts four-year Missouri State and Golden West next Friday.
