Ka'awaloa and Ramseyer named first team all-OEC in beach

Two Irvine Valley women's beach volleyball pairs teams earned all-Orange Empire Conference honors as the regular season came to a close after the conference tournament two weeks ago at Irvine Valley and Golden West.

IVC's top pair of sophomore Taira Ka'awaloa and Megan Ramseyer finished fourth at the conference individual tournament to earn first team accolades.

Irvine Valley's No. 2 team of sophomore Olivia Aguilar and Renata Bath and No. 3 duo of sophomore Hannah Salaya and freshman Emilie Austin were each named second team all-conference.

Irvine Valley ended the regular season with a record of 11-8 overall, but went 6-0 in its conference division to earn a share of the OEC title with Golden West.

Irvine Valley will next play at the CCCAA State Championship event beginning this Thursday at West Valley College in Saratoga.

The Lasers will compete in one of two pools in the team championship event on Thursday. IVC will take on the top team from Northern California, Sierra, and MiraCosta in its pool.

The winner of the pool will move on to take on the best team from a pool of Long Beach City, Cabrillo and Moorpark in the final later on Thursday.

Also, the IVC pairs of Ka'awaloa and Ramseyer and Aguilar and Bath will compete in the individual tournament that takes place Friday and Saturday. The event features the top 32 pairs from around the state.
