From IVC esports coordinator and coach Adam Lopez
-There are two sections of the program. The ecosystem and the varsity competitors.
-The varsity competitors will be our Athletes / Coaches / Analysts who will represent the school. They will be housed under the sports department in the IA-201 Class (Course Code / Ticket = 64330). Although, we encourage students to sign-up now for the class, there will be tryouts for these positions. The tryout dates will be determined soon and posted in the discord along with more detailed information. We will determine which teams we field depending on student interest. This way we can have tryouts for any of the esports titles. We ask that players trying out are already performing within the top 25% of their respective ladders. The competitors should expect to be studying modern techniques for pushing the skills of esports performers.
-The ecosystem will be operating similar to a club (outside of the class) for now, supporting the competitors and esports events for the school. We hope the ecosystem will also be a pathway to a career for students who want to have a career in the esports industry. For example, the positions we hope to fill for the ecosystem involves social media manager, team manager, streaming/broadcasting manager, discord manager, commentators, administrators, etc. We will host a launch meeting for students interested in the ecosystem space shortly (within the week) after we deliver this email. And, students should watch the announcements channel in discord for that information.
