IVC postpones beach volleyball, men's volleyball Friday

Irvine Valley College Athletics has postponed its women's beach volleyball Orange Empire Conference matches with Cypress, Santa Ana and Saddleback and will not have a home conference men's volleyball match against Santigao Canyon on Friday, Mar. 13.

Out of an abundance of caution due to Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) concerns, Irvine Valley is being proactive in making sure that the safety, health and well-being of student-athletes, fans, officials, staff and on-site personnel is at the forefront.

The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) will have final guidance on steps moving forward, including what will take place with spring sports, playoffs and championship events.

The women's beach volleyball team, ranked second in the state, was slated to host matches beginning at 9 a.m. The IVC men's volleyball team, ranked No. 8 in the state was scheduled to play host to No. 7 Santiago Canyon at 6 p.m. in a conference match.

The CCCAA earlier in the day cancelled the State Championship Men's and Women's Basketball events at West Hills Lemoore.

Irvine Valley College administration is committed to the safety of our student-athletes while also providing the best opportunities to fulfill their athletic and academic goals.
