Irvine Valley’s athlete of the week for Nov. 4 is women’s basketball player Zoe Stachowski.

The sophomore post player was dominant in leading Irvine Valley to wins in its first two games last week.

In the Lasers’ opening match-up against a strong East Los Angeles team in the Grossmont Crossover event last Friday, Stachowski had 25 points, 12 rebounds and two assists.

East Los Angeles was ranked No. 6 in the preseason coaches poll in Southern California and IVC was seventh.

Irvine Valley started strong and came out on top in a 83-69 win.

Stachowski was 10 of 17 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line in the contest.

She followed that up with 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one steal in the Lasers’ 105-50 rout of Grossmont on Saturday.

Stachowski averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds and shot 55.6 percent in the first two games. She averaged 5.5 offensive rebounds.

Stachowski was a big part of the Irvine Valley 2018-19 squad that finished with a record of 23-6 overall. The team won the Orange Empire Conference title and reached the playoff regional final.

She was named second team all-conference after the regular season. And for the year, Stachowski averaged 12.7 points, 13.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.
