Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Mar. 18 and for the second time in three weeks is freshman men's volleyball player Grant Dvorak.
The setter and opposite had two more standout matches last week in leading the No. 4 in the state Lasers to two important wins.
Dvorak finished with 14 kills, hit .407 and added 25 assists and seven digs to lead the Lasers in a 22-25, 25-21, 27-29, 26-24, 15-13 win over No. 3 in the state Golden West on the road on Wednesday.
He turned around and had six kills, hit .600 and contributed 17 assists in IVC's 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 conference sweep over Santiago Canyon at home on Friday.
The two victories helped Irvine Valley improve their record to 8-4 overall and 2-0 in the Orange Empire Conference.
On the year, Dvorak is averaging 2.19 kills per set and hitting .374. He is also averaging 5.43 assists per set. He leads the team in assists with 228 and is fourth in digs with 42.
Irvine Valley plays again on Wednesday at Fullerton in a conference match at 6 p.m.
