Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Dec. 25 is men's basketball player Ammon Allan.
He scored 19 points and added seven rebounds and five assists to help lead the Lasers to a 72-60 win over Cuyamaca on the road last week.
Allan shot 5 of 8 from the field, including 3 of 5 from three-point range and made all six of his free throws in the contest.
The freshman guard out of Texas has been a key contributor for the 9-4 Lasers this season.
He is averaging 9.1 points and shooting 50.0 percent from the field on the year. Allan is also averaging a solid 4.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists a game for the Lasers.
Allan has scored in double figures in seven of 13 games so far with a season-high 21 points in IVC's 71-53 season-opening win over Ventura in the IVC Classic on Nov. 9.
Irvine Valley was ranked No. 29 in the state last week and has one more contest in the 2023 year with an alumni game on Dec. 29 at 5 p.m.
